1. Acceptance

Using Shadewire (the "Service") means agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it. They apply to everyone: visitors, members and community administrators.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 to use Shadewire. If you're under 18, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's consent where your local law requires it.

3. Accounts

Accounts are issued by invitation. You agree to give accurate registration details, keep your credentials to yourself, tell the operator promptly if you think your account has been accessed by someone else, and take responsibility for what happens under it.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use Shadewire to:

  • Post or transmit content that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, defamatory or discriminatory.
  • Send spam or unsolicited automated messages.
  • Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your affiliation with them.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or any other system.
  • Disrupt or degrade the Service for other members.
  • Upload malware or other malicious code.
  • Break any applicable law.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting it you grant Shadewire a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and transmit it purely in order to operate the Service. You're responsible for your own content; the operator may remove content that breaks these terms.

6. Intellectual property

The Shadewire name, branding, client builds and this website are owned by or licensed to the Shadewire operator. The underlying server software is Stoat, an open-source project derived from Revolt, licensed separately under its own terms and credited to its authors.

7. Privacy

Your use is also governed by the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

8. Availability

Shadewire is run by one operator as a private service. It is provided "as is", without any guarantee of uptime or uninterrupted operation, and may be suspended or discontinued at any time for maintenance, security or any other operational reason.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Shadewire operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. It is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

10. Termination

Access may be suspended or withdrawn if you break these terms or behave in a way that harms the Service or its members. You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time.

11. Changes

These terms may be updated. Material changes are announced in-app or by email, and the date at the top of this page reflects the current version.

12. Contact

Questions go to the operator — on the wire, or through the access gateway.
